WHAT TO WEAR
What clothes should you bring to San Pedro de Atacama? Well, everything! No matter what time of year you visit this area, you’re likely to experience both cold and hot weather on the same day, especially if your itinerary includes trips to nearby attractions or early morning or late night activities.
Keep in mind that in places such as the Tatio Geysers or some high-altitude lakes, temperatures can drop below freezing, so it is recommended that you dress warmly, with a hat, gloves, and comfortable shoes. Tourists who choose to bathe in the geysers’ hot springs should bring a swimsuit, sandals, and a towel.
If your trip to the Quebrada de Guatin includes a stop at Puritama Spring Waters, don’t forget to bring your swimsuit, towel, and sandals.
As mentioned earlier, always remember to bring a hat (ideally one you can secure with a strap), sunglasses, sunscreen, and bottled water, since San Pedro de Atacama is one of the areas with the highest ultraviolet radiation in Chile.
